WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO GROW SPIRITUALLY?

Anchor scripture;
1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Children knows that things happen naturally by coincidence but when they grow up they search for the how things are done.
A child in spirit doesn’t know how spiritual things works.
Every born again believer must pass through childhood.
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
God cannot give His precious treasures to child until they grow up. When we grow up , we make God believe in us as His heirs.
It is important to grow spiritually as it is important to grow physically.
Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
Jesus increased in stature, physically and in favour with God ,spiritually.
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.
Grace is bestowed unto us as believers but we must Grow in it ,to enjoy inheritance that is contained in it.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Grace came by Jesus but to enjoy the fruits of it we must grow in it.
REASONS WHY WE MUST GROW SPIRITUALLY:
1.Prosperity in any sphere of life depends on spiritual maturity.
3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Life begins in the Spirit. For we live in spirit and flesh. The soul is between them. For one to prosper in this world, the Spirit must be stronger than the flesh.
- God only manifest the sons ,not the kids.
Matthew 2:13-15
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: and was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Jesus was born a king but since he was a child could not protect himself. He told Joseph to run with him to protect His life.
But when He grew up, God manifested Him. He commended Him as his beloved son.
Matthew 3:17
..and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
It can take 20 to 30 years for one to mature physically but it may take 6 months for one to mature spiritually.
People respond to our spiritual maturity than our physical maturity.
- Kingdom wealth can only be given yo sons and not children.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Every child can be made a son.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
There comes time where will be manifestation of sons of God and not children.
It takes maturity to receive our inheritance from God. It takes growth (maturity) to be entrusted with such.
As we grow we pull our possession, our riches from God close to us.
Galatians 4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; Galatians 4:2 but is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
- There are mystery that God can show to spiritual matured sons.
Big and secrets are told to sons and not children.
John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
There are things that God will reveal to son for him alone not for others. A child shares everything even the one concerns of himself.
God reveals things to men depending on their maturity.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Come up hither…
We must grow up to the level which we can see solution, we can see heaven open we can see revelations which if we remain children we can not see them.
It is a come up hither level.
There are things we are to know concerning future but we cannot because of the spiritual level that we have stucked.
Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
- For the promises and prophesies over your life to be fulfilled.
God cannot deny Himself., when He Speak He shall fulfill.
2 Timothy 2:13
if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.My belief system is highly affected by our spiritual maturity. The understanding we have on God, with Him and about Him.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego by knowing their God, confidently walk into the fire furnace.
Being born of God doesn’t mean you will not face storms but it is guaranteed that they won’t kill you based on the level that you know and believe in God.
Psalms 23:4 .
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
It is possible to pass through valley of shadow of death but sons knows that death cannot kill life. Jesus conquered death and was resurrected.
Zechariah 4:7.
God has spoken his word ,but for the prophecy to be fulfilled ut depends on spiritual maturity.
Zechariah 4:7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
Mountains stands before us depends on the level of maturity we are to address them.
Luke 1:80
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
For the prophecy upon John the baptist to be fulfilled, he was taken into the wilderness to grow spiritually first.
It takes growth for the promises to be fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
WHAT MAKES US GROW SPIRITUALLY?
- Word of God.
1 Peter 2:2 ..”as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby…”
We were born again by the Word, so for us to grow have to dwell in the Word.
1 Peter 1:23 “being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
We should move from Reading the scriptures and eat them as food for our spirit.
Jeremiah 15:16
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.”
